Learn to choose healthy foods in the aisles of Giant Eagle! Help Izzy collect badges throughout each of the stops including Produce, the Bakery, Deli, Dairy, and more.

Download and print the accompanying activities to help create even more connections reinforcing My Plate principles, basic nutrition, and healthy lifestyles. Nutrition information provided is based on USDA My Plate Guidelines.

General Guidance

This experience is best for grades PreK-3 with general assistance.

Use the activity sheets to extend content and reinforce key principles of MyPlate and balanced nutrition.

Encourage students to predict what they might see and learn based on the title of each stop. Discuss with students how the stop was similar or different from their expectations.

Work with students to develop a vocabulary list of unknown or difficult terms. Have emerging literacy students draw or sketch word concepts to help reinforce their meanings.

Watch all the videos at once or break into mini-lessons. Pause and replay video segments to encourage students to reflect and allow time to look for items for further discussion.
