Bring the concept of smart energy to life in an exciting place where abstract concepts become real…the ComEd Community Center in Chicago. ComEducation is a program that opens the doors of ComEd facilities to teach valuable lessons on the future of energy including learning how Smart Meters and the Smart Grid can put energy in the hands of our communities like never before! The exhibit “Our Energy, Our Future” is a self guided, interactive educational experience with easy-to-use displays and education programs that allow everyone to learn about the many elements of energy and the path to clean energy. This center also demonstrates the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in our worforce and the communities we serve, while focusing on our commitment to STEM and development of future energy professionals.

• Renewable energy sources including The Power of Solar
• Safety with electricity
• Communities of the future….and more!
STEM
The lessons, discussions, and activities throughout this experience support a STEM-based curriculum by emphasizing key concepts in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
The ComEd PLCC can accommodate 1-35 students. This is a self-guided experience.

The field trip was well organized and informative. Our host was wonderful. However, there weren’t enough hands on activities for our students. One station was not functioning properly and we would have benefitted from a demonstration from one of the training center instructors or workers.

The facility is very clean and modern, it is filled with very interesting and some interactive exhibits. The staff are also very attentive, helpful, and flexible. Segio and Amy did a wonderful job leading my large group of 33 high schoolers through the tour and activities. Michael from Field Trip Factory was also an amazing help in scheduling and figuring out logistics for this trip.
